I Love Mr. A-Z

On Wednesday, I bought Jason Mraz's new CD.  After struggling with the "customer service" girl at Best Buy I got the dual disk for $13.99 (the price Circuit City sells it for) and I was able to get in my car, crank up the AC (because the car temperature read 103 degrees Fahrenheit), and jam out to the new tunes!  Since then, I have not been able to stop listening to it.  He is all about the Word Play baby!  I've been looking at the lyrics in hopes of being able to rhyme like Mr. A-Z one day or even not get tongue tied singing along.  It is so fun!

I can't decide on my favorite song yet.  So far, "You and I Both" from the previous album still holds the top spot.  We'll see.   This song might be competition.  Not so much though.

Buying Blue

Because I have nothing better to do... I discovered something useful online today.   Most of you are aware of buyblue.org, I hope!  It has done a nice job of rating companies based on their contributions to politics in America.  Money talks in this country so the idea is to support the businesses that contribute to the Democrats. 

I have been to the site before but must admit that I can't remember the companies that give to the GOP  resulting in my support of such businesses.  Not good.   However, some guy named Marc put together a file to store on your iPod.  Genius! 

I downloaded it today and followed the directions to get it on my pod.  Love it!  Go download it and store it with your tunes so you can ensure that you are buying blue!

June In A Nutshell

Well, because I fail at updating as of late I figured I would make a quick list of things that happened in June.  Yes, I don't work but I can't get myself to actually work on the blog.  I'll try to find motivation soon.  Until then, I'm enjoying my time away from the kids and not working!  I've been going out ALL the time and I think it's getting old so I'll be stopping soon.   HA  I've said that before.

Mraz Take Two
     Lucky me was able to see another fabulous Jason Mraz concert.  He was opening for Alanis Morrissett in Baltimore at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on June 18th.  It was Gay Pride in Baltimore so the streets of Mount Vernon were packed and parking was a challenge to discover.  This concert was brought to me by the great friend at work who took me to the Lion King.  I went with her and her son and we had a great time.  They were new to Mraz and I think I made them a fan.  I just downloaded the Mraz part of the concert and am going to burn a copy and mail it to them.

     On the 22nd, The Center (the non-existent building that is supposed to be a gathering place for gays in the District) sponsored their first summer movie, Mommie Dearest.  They are hosting three movies this summer, calling it "Screen on Stead".  The next movie is Rocky Horror Picture Show.  The third movie will be determined by online voting.  When I voted, Priscilla Queen of the Desert was winning with 9-5 in second.  I voted for Grease!  Please vote for Grease!  I need a sing along movie!

Home Team Wins
     Charles (A.K.A. Mike) invited me to the Nationals game on the 28th.  He had extra tickets from work.  He took Jessica, Stefan, and myself.  We had a good time as the Nats beat the Pirates, 2-1.  The weather was warm and humid.  However, the rain did come down during the game but thank goodness it was not serious enough for a delay.  The adventure really went nuts when Charles drove Jessica's car to take Stefan and myself home.  We were lost in the South East and at one point were at the D.C. and P.G. County line.  SCARY!  We almost ran a red light (thank goodness for strong breaks)!  Not to mention I learned some shocking information about my two college friends that I will not share on this public site.  (email me, I'll tell ya! wink, wink)

Hakuna Matata

The end of the year for a teacher is complete chaos!  Report cards have to be done because they are sent home with the students on the final day.  Teachers get no extra time to complete them before they are due to the administration for review.  Not to mention the end of year picnics, field days, concerts, blah blah blah…   Let us not miss the ever so enjoyable part of cleaning up your room, taking everything off of the walls and cleaning the shelves to pack everything up for the summer.  It is not fun!  On top of all these duties was the 90 plus degree temperatures that were compounded by the immense levels of humidity.    I’ll stop complaining.
     The real reason for this post is to write about the wonderful teachers assistant we have at our school.  Complete liberal democrat and tons of fun, she makes for a great friend.  Today my report cards are due.  All of my grades are done and the forms filled out except for my comments.  They were not finished today and I doubt they will be done before the weekend.  Part of the reason is because the wonderful assistant had a birthday yesterday and had an extra ticket to see the Lion King at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore.  At first I was going to resist the temptation but I couldn’t turn down a free ticket plus great dinner! It was a scorcher day and the students were sent home an hour early because of the heat.  I was in a polo and shorts that absorbed much of my sweat.  None-the-less, I agreed to go with the excuse of being able to buy a new outfit.  It was helpful that I had a pair of black dress shoes in my trunk!  I stayed at school, finished a few reports and rushed off to the mall to buy an outfit to zoom through the city to downtown- Federal Hill, for dinner at 5:30.  Go figure, I took too long at the mall and was late to dinner but not before everyone else had dinner. 
     I started writing this a while ago but am going to leave it as is and post….  Oh, the Lion King was great!  Hippodrome has a small stage but the production and the cast was great.  The Hakuna Matata title was supposed to be my attitude for the reports vs. the production but now its for this post.
